Tike Hikes

About Tike Hikes: Join other parents for 'hikes' with toddlers & preschoolers. We meet at 'short and easy' trails in the Dane County area for nature walks with children ages 2-5 (younger welcome in a carrier/pack). Expectant moms welcome to join us too! Let your children walk and explore the outdoors.

Please arrive about 5-10 minutes early for hikes so that we can all assemble and head out on time. Be sure to RSVP for the hike(s) you will be attending! Hope to see you there.

TIKE HIKE:
Thursday September 27 @ the UW Arboretum
10 - 10:45 a.m.

The UW Aboretum is just off Seminole Highway, North of the Beltline. Directions/map are on their site at: http://uwarboretum.org/visit/

UW Arboretum
1207 Seminole Highway
Madison, WI 53711-3726

The UW Arboretum has a variety of footpaths, including prairie, wetlands and forests. Please dress for the weather. Non hikers/babies are best in packs or carriers, as trails are not really designed for strollers.

** Please arrive about 5-10 minutes early so that we can all assemble and hit the trail on time.

** We will be meeting in the front entrance of the Visitor Center.

** Please RSVP to me via email at info@momsinmadison.com if you are coming, and let me know how many (mom/dad + 2 year old + infant in carrier, etc.) just so I have an idea of how many are coming.

** I will post a note if it seems that we should cancel due to weather.

Please be sure to review the tips and guidelines to the right>>. Thanks! :)

More fall hikes coming - check back soon!

Here are a few Tike Hike tips. Please review before our outing.

All trails we will visit for the Tike Hikes will be easy trails. Most will have both sunny and shady areas, with mowed paths and trails.

Tips for the trails:
-Stay on the trails
-Please, no plant, animal or rock collecting or picking
-Water is fine on the trails, but please save snacks for before or after the hike
-No pets
-Parents are responsible for the safety of their own children. Please stay with your child at all times!

Preparation Tips:
-Your child should wear sturdy shoes.
-Bring water!!!
-Dress your child appropriately for the weather.

-If you feel the need to apply an insect repellent, please apply it before you arrive (follow application instructions on the package), and use a fragrance free or unscented version. There will be other children and parents on the trails with you - and some may be sensitive or have allergies (and there may be babies!!)! So please be considerate so that we may all enjoy the walk - thanks!

No sick kids, please. Runny noses, colds or the flu are best at home - we don't want to get othert kids or babies sick. Thanks!
